Phoenix 96.3fm Bundaberg’s story
Phoenix 96.3fm Bundaberg is the official call sign for the radio; Encore Community Radio Association Inc. was formed in September 2014.
In September 2018 with a change of management we began to restructure the range of programs and music. A listener survey in October 2019 and this change to music and content was confirmed by listeners, supporters and sponsors, who asked for more of the music that was not played on other radio stations and more local content and views , news and matters of local interest and just good fun.
Although no specific age group is targeted by Phoenix 96.3fm it is predominantly well received by the over 50's.
It was decided by members during 2019 that the station call sign should be rebranded from Encore to Phoenix as that was the preferred name at the inception of Encore however Encore was used as the call sign.
The station serves the greater region of Bundaberg with the signal extending as far south as Hervey Bay, Maryborough, north to Miriam Vale, Agnes Waters and west to Monto, Gayndah, Mundubbera and Ban Ban Springs. Now, with live internet streaming we are in fact world wide.
The station is funded by listener donations and sponsorship from businesses across the region.
